Our favorites on rodeo:
  1. Prada (such an amazing store!!! it was 3 stories and models at the front of the store)
  2. Coach (bella found this uber-cute yellow bag; too bad her birthday past)
  3. BCBG (pretty chiffon-y dresses)

Work. Beats. Fierce. Sound

I am hoping that you guys know about the YES DANCE and if you don't, please find out! One of Bella and my friends from school is performing bits of this dance for a faux talent competition and it will be AMAZING.

Also, I want to preface this picture by stating that I am NOT a big High School Musical fan. (Bella is.) I guess growing up w/o disney channel did it, but no, I am not a diehard fan.

Yet I have this respect for anyone who can really pull off white pants and look good. So here goes...

Shout outs to all girls who have tried and failed (myself included) to dress for the white pant. Despite the fact that V.Hudge is Mos Def not my favorite "actress," I have to admit that I wouldn't mind taking a swipe at her closet. :)

ashley tisdale

fei has similar boots like ashley's and i have that exact same cartigan.

i love ashley tisdale's style
it's edgy with a feminine twist

PROMote the Stereotype!

It is a common stereotype that all girls really want to do is shop for dresses and shoes and pretty sparkly things. In the past this stereotype was also regarded as something "bad" right? Well, I say, badness begone! Prom is just one of those times when girls GET to promote that stereotype without being reprimanded for being dumb and vain. It really is a thrill (though also a pain..) and today I, fei, started this glamorous, traditional, and very expensive journey.

This was the beautiful dress from BCBG that my mom vetoed INSTANTLY b/c she doesn't think that I should be wearing a dress that consists of the colors beige with cream. She wanted me in something VIBRANT and since she was footing the bill, I listened.

Ok, admittedly, Vera Wang runway dresses don't quite work for prom because of many different reasons, but I love this dress! I adore the sheer, ethereal quality of this fabric and the lovely sequins on the collar.

GASP! I like ripped, complicated, and layered for everyday but for formals, I am simple as can be. I love the simple, beautiful detail of this Nicole Miller dress and of course, the royal blue doesn't hurt either.

And if I were a fairy princess living in a world full of unicorns and white knights, I could kindly ask the insanely talented jason wu to make me this dress. To me, this embodies everything that I would ever want in a piece of clothing. The color, the fabric, the texture, and the essence of the dress just makes the model look even more beautiful than she already is.

UPDATE: I have gotten my dress, it is not quite as romantic and fantastical as some of these dresses, but I like it and now I just need to get shoes!!!

Trickle Down Economics

People lament the fact that designers are being ripped off by lower chain stores and it's a true concern. My boots (above) are from Target, but they resemble a pair of very stylin' boots from Steve Madden and who knows who the original designer was? My point is that as unfair as it is for those designers who start the trend, not everyone can afford the hefty pricetag of high fashion. So I am glad that Target came out with these boots because after all, isn't imitation the greatest form of flattery? :)

This great pic is courtesy of Jak and Jil and the boots are not exactly like my knock-offs, but they are buckled and pretty cool.

It's only Monday! :(

The clouds were SO terrifying today that I had to take some pictures (The pictures don't depict quite how scary they were, but that's old digital cameras for you). I can't wait until the LA weather will calm down and resume its usual identity, but in the meantime..
Here's something equally shaaadowy and mysterious. I hope Bella has a cheery post tomorrow! :)

TARGET! (7:00 p.m. YES IT TOOK LIKE 4.5 HOURS!)

So we were exhausted after my, I mean OUR cleaning so we decided to go to Target before getting some KOGI burritos. We naturally go to the apparel section and then soon to the footwear department. Bella finds this pair of SUPER CUTE and shiny/ all-purpose shoes without much of a heel so it's practical. I find a pair of biker-chick boots that I really like. Problem (bella): Bella doesn't think her shoes are fancy enough for a night out therefore not worth her $$. (I completely disagreed, I pointed out that they were the perfect everything and also made her ankles look super skinny. Problem (fei): the boots were cool, but people at our small private school don't dress like that (think abercrombie/uggs/preppy polos.) I love wearing stuff that I dig out of my mom's closet, but I don't like the special attention I get when I try to be too maverick-y.

Eventually, Bella ended up buying two sports bras instead of the perfect shoes and I resolved to get my boots because Bella counseled me into believing that I shouldn't care about what my fellow peers think about my dress.

NEXT STOP FEI's ROOM! This time I'll make bella do all of the cleaning. hehe

Fashion is postmodern.

Hey this is Bella and as you may know, this is our new blog and our blog isnt just a fashion blog, but a blog about the joys and tribulations of our teenage lives.

I took this really cool Contemporary Fiction class last semester that explored postmodernism in our society. One of the tenets of postmodernism is the idea that everything's been done before and there's nothing new. We talked about fashion and how certain styles are constantly recycled and brought back in the future. For example, like the high-waisted skirt or the shoulder pads that are creeping into fashion magazines. So it's just really cool to see how pervasive postmodernism is, even in fashion.

To leave you off thinking about postmodernism...
I wrote this little snippet for the class

Dear Diary,
The sun is shining. The birds are chirping. The clouds are moving. The house is rotting. The ice cream truck is blaring. The neighbors are yelling. The Boys are spying. The grass is growing. The bees are gathering. People are driving. Babies are crying. Old woman are crossing. Fruit is falling. Workers are picking. Students are studying.Teachers are grading. Toddlers are walking. Celebrities are shopping. Directors are directing. Writers are writing. Singers are singing. Consumers are buying. Marketers are calling. My mom is cooking. My dad is teaching. Lux is talking. Bonnie is showering. Mary is twirling. Therese is eating. I am falling. I am dying.

fei: bella! that is totally kanye! member when he put up the post in ALL CAPS and suggested to the world that music is "finished." he totally thought that future artists will all be imposters because after his music, the world is complete. your post reminded me of that kanye rant.

I WANT TO GO TO THERE!

~FEI~
So this is, obviously, Fei (on the right), and to start: this is a shared blog between two similar, but completely different friends. I'm Fei and Bella is probably napping or visiting JustJared.com.
So to start this thing off, I wanna talk about what we're gonna provide for the blogosphere on our humble site.

First, this is a random blog that is going to explode in a million different directions, and because Bella and I are such internet fanatics (addicts) we'll blog all of the time.

Our first order of business is CUPCAKE DAY! The plan is to explore many different cupcake shops in the greater LA area and provide pictures and comments about our adventure.

Yay! I'm actually really really excited and we're gonna go so alll out that we're gonna need to fast for the two-three days leading up to cupcake day.

:)
